Drunk Exeter 'piggy back' sex attacker, 18, jailed

A drunken youth who sexually assaulted two teenage girls after jumping on their backs for a piggy back ride has been jailed.

Leigh Yeo, of Exeter, assaulted the 18-year-old and 16-year-old in the city centre in January.

Yeo, 18, admitted two sexual assaults and several other offences at Exeter Crown Court.

Jailing him for 15 months, Judge Phillip Wassall said the sentence might seem "inadequate" to his victims.

The court was told the girls were "barely acquaintances" of Yeo.

'Stupid incident'

After the assault, Yeo walked away laughing but was stopped by a nearby supermarket security guard who detained him.

One of the girls was physically sick after the attack, which happened during daylight hours, and later suffered panic attacks.

The other victim was left scared and upset, prosecutor Howard Phillips said.

The court heard Yeo had made 18 court appearances since June 2007, mostly for drunken violence.

His defence lawyer told the court that Yeo was "disgusted" with his actions and added the sex assaults were a "stupid incident that went too far" while he was drunk.

In addition to his prison sentence, Yeo was put on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
