Planners have backed proposals for three blocks of flats to be built on St Helier's Waterfront.

The developers, Dandara, plan to build 274 one and two-bedroom flats and six three-bedroom flats alongside shops as part of its Castle Quay development.

The tallest of the blocks will be nine storeys high but wide avenues between buildings would be left so the view is not blocked, the company said.

Work on the project is due to begin in 2012 and expected to take three years.
