A man who died in hospital after being found unconscious in Cumbria has been described as a "hero" by his children.
David Crossman, 39 and of Hartington Street in Barrow, was discovered in Aberdeen Street in the town on Sunday night, and later died.
Cause of death has yet to be released. Two local men aged 39 and 40 have been arrested on suspicion of his murder.
His family said in a statement that words could not express the loss felt by those who loved him.
His 18-year-old daughter, Leanne, said: "As a child I always referred to my dad as my hero and the hero in him will live on forever."
Nathan Crossman, 12, said: "You've always been the best dad any kid could wish for."
His eldest son, Andrew Crossman, 20, added: "I just wish I could have more time with him."
Mr Crossman's mother, Carol Crossman, speaking on behalf of herself and his siblings, said: "David was a loving father and son, words cannot express the loss felt by those who loved him.
"David wasn't only a brother to us, he was our best friend too.
"He can never be replaced and will never be forgotten."
