Cannabis factory found in house in Beaumont Leys

Police have uncovered a cannabis factory in a house in Leicester.

Officers forced their way into a semi-detached house in Laxford Close in Beaumont Leys at 1025 BST on Tuesday after a member of the public reported suspicious behaviour there.

They discovered at least 600 mature cannabis plants and cultivation equipment in four rooms.

No one has been arrested but police said inquiries were ongoing to identify those responsible.

Sgt Rich Jackson from the Beaumont Leys neighbourhood team said: "This was a large cannabis factory with approximately 600 to 800 mature plants ready to be cropped.

"Thanks to information from a member of the public, we have successfully prevented this large amount of cannabis from reaching the streets."
