Fatal crash lorry driver arrested

A lorry driver has been arrested after he was involved in a crash which killed a motorcyclist in South Yorkshire.

Police said the collision happened on the A614 Selby Road in Thorne, Doncaster, while the 18-year-old biker was attempting to overtake the lorry.

During the manoeuvre the lorry turned right into Hadds Lane and the bike collided with the back of its trailer.

The teenager, from Goole in East Yorkshire, was pronounced dead after he was airlifted to hospital.

The lorry driver, who is from Doncaster, was held on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention and has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened at 1510 BST on Tuesday, to come forward.
