Former porn boss among new owners of Le Monde

The iconic French newspaper Le Monde, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, has new owners.

They are internet tycoon Xavier Niel, who built a fortune on pornography, banker Matthieu Pigasse and Pierre Berge who was the co-founder of fashion house Yves Saint Laurent.

But the move is proving controversial as the new owners have close links to Dominique Strauss Kahn, who is tipped as a potential rival to Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2012 presidential elections.
