Suffolk man, 76, guilty of sex assaults on four girls

A 76-year-old man from Suffolk has been found guilty of 16 sexual assaults against four young girls.

One of the girls attacked by Keith Willis, of Gresham Road, Beccles, was seven, Norwich Crown Court was told.

He was remanded in custody for reports and is due to be sentenced in three weeks but no date was given.

Willis had denied all charges and said in evidence that the victims had got together and "concocted" stories that never happened.

He was found not guilty of the sexual assault of a fifth girl.

Judge Simon Barham gave no indication of the sentence but said he had committed "very serious offences".

The jury took three days to reach a verdict after a two-week trial.

They failed to reach verdicts concerning four counts of rape against one of the victims and Judge Barham agreed with prosecution lawyers there was no point in pursuing them further.
