Man accused of murdering his mother in Croydon

A 34-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother at a property in south London.

Officers found the body of 58-year-old Beryl Gilchrist in Miller Road, Croydon, on Thursday night. She was also known as Nazarine Samuel.

Her son Jermaine Gilchrist, of North Street in Huddersfield, was arrested at the scene and charged with her murder.

Mr Gilchrist was remanded in custody when he appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court.

He will appear next at the Old Bailey on 30 June.
