Fisherman airlifted to Cornwall after injuring pelvis

A rescue helicopter from Cornwall has rescued a French fisherman from a boat about 50 miles (80km) south west of the Isles of Scilly.

The Sea King from RNAS Culdrose picked up the fisherman shortly before 2300 BST on Thursday after Falmouth Coastguard received a distress call.

It is understood the man suffered a pelvic injury, coastguards said.

He was flown to the Culdrose base and then taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital by land ambulance.
