Crews evacuate Chelmsford hospital in fire

A hospital in Essex had to be evacuated when a fire began in a waiting area.

The fire involved three chairs in a waiting room at St John's Hospital in Wood Street, Chelmsford.

Crews arrived at 0950 BST and found the area heavily smoke-logged. They cleared the entire hospital, which provides out-patient services.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes and no-one was injured, missing or trapped, Essex Fire and Rescue Service said.
