Capital Gains Tax will remain at 18% for low and middle-income savers but from midnight, higher rate taxpayers will pay 28%.
The Chancellor, George Osborne, added that the capital gains tax "entrepreneurs relief" rate of 10% on the first £2m of gains will be extended to the first £5m.
