Gun fired at pensioner's house in Stretford

A pensioner escaped unharmed after shots were fired at his house in Greater Manchester.

The 67-year-old man was watching television when his home in Highfield Road, Stretford, was hit at 2345 GMT on Sunday.

Police discovered damage to the front door and a bedroom window.

Officers said no-one was seen in the area at the time and they did not know why the house had been targeted.

Det Sgt Matthew Hamer said: "Incidents like this cause understandable concern in the community and we are doing all we can to find out who did this.

"At this stage there is no obvious reason why this house was targeted but if anyone was in the area at the time or has any other information about this incident I would urge them to get in touch."
