CCTV has been released of Dr Layfield on the day he vanished

A Lincolnshire GP who has been missing for more than a week was facing the breakdown of his marriage, police have revealed.

Dr James Layfield, who lives in Friskney and works in Skegness, was last seen on 12 June.

A search of nearby countryside and lakes has failed to locate him.

While renewing appeals for him to get in touch, officers said he was facing personal problems and had sent a letter of resignation to his medical practice.

At the weekend police released CCTV pictures of Dr Layfield on the day he disappeared.

These show him wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt hours before he was last seen.
