Man held in Spain over death of Sarah Thomas in Surrey

A man has been arrested in Spain in connection with the murder of a mother-of-three who was found stabbed at her home in Surrey.

The body of Sarah Thomas, 38, was discovered at a property in High Street, Nutfield, shortly after 1800 BST on 10 May.

Spanish police arrested David Baxendale in the tourist resort of Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol at 0300 BST.

The 39-year-old is in the custody of the Spanish authorities.

On Friday, Surrey Police issued an appeal for information on the whereabouts of Mr Baxendale, who has links to the Redhill and Tadworth areas.

A post-mortem examination found Miss Thomas had suffered a number of injuries including a stab wound to her neck.
