Cigarettes stolen in Jersey shop break-in

Police in Jersey are investigating a break-in at a shop in which cigarettes valued at more than £3,000 were stolen.

A quantity of cash was also stolen from the shop on the New North Quay, which police said was broken into between 0200 and 0230 BST on Thursday.

Police said a suspect was seen leaving the area riding a black BMX bicycle with some bright blue plastic carrier bags hanging from his handle bars.

He was described as white, with black clothing, a beanie hat and a backpack.

The cyclist rode off through Liberation Square, up Conway street onto New Street, police said.
