Man on GBH arrest after Oxford assault


A man has been held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) after a 21-year-old suffered injuries in Oxford.

The victim was attacked outside the Hob Goblin pub as he walked along Cowley Road on Friday night.

Paramedics attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital with injuries including a split lip and broken teeth.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and is in custody. Police appealed to witnesses in the area to come forward.

Det Con Claire Routledge said: "There were a lot of people out on the Cowley Road last night watching the England game and we would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident.

"A group of men that were stood nearby when the incident happened immediately came to the man's assistance and we would be particularly keen to speak to these men.

"One of the men is described as white and was wearing a yellow T-shirt."
