An estimated 26,000 people have attended the Portishead Carnival in North Somerset.

The annual event, which has been running for about 70 years, included about 40 entries this year, including marching bands and floats.

In 2002 the carnival consisted of just three floats and a double decker bus.

Jemma Cooper, one of the organisers, described this year's turnout at the best ever.
