Police shut Ruthin nightclub after 'violent incident'

A nightclub in Ruthin has been closed by the authorities following what police call "a late night disturbance."

Denbighshire council's licensing sub-committee revoked the V2 club's licence last month but it was allowed to remain open pending an appeal.

But North Wales Police said following "a violent incident" on Sunday it was now closed with immediate effect.

It will not be allowed to open until the review, at a date yet to be fixed.

Inspector Dewi Roberts said: "North Wales Police are investigating the incident at the V2 nightclub, Ruthin and I to appeal for any witnesses to contact us.

"The community can have confidence that both North Wales Police and the local authority are committed to achieving a vibrant and safe night time economy and that we will pursue all means available to us in ensuring this is the case.

"We will not tolerate offences of alcohol related violence at licensed premises".

Call North Wales Police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident number L105220 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
