Scottish Borders jobless figures decrease

Unemployment in the Borders has fallen to its lowest level this year.

In May there were 1,952 people out of work and claiming jobseeker's allowance - the first time the figure has dropped below 2,000 in 2010.

It is the lowest since December 2009, when 1,914 were looking for jobs.

The region is still recovering from the news last month that knitwear firm Peter Scott & Co entered administration with the loss of more than 100 posts.
