Houses and a pub were evacuated after a cement mixer was left hanging over a ledge in Derbyshire.

The vehicle was reversing on Farley Hill in Matlock when part of a suspended driveway collapsed.

Residents on Hackney Road, which runs below Farley Hill, were moved as emergency teams worked to stop the lorry toppling onto buildings.

Another lorry was used to pull the truck back onto the road in an operation that took three hours.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Ian Pigeon, landlord of the Laburnum Inn which sits directly below where the collapse occurred, said: "It was just such a total surprise - it was practically into our garden.

"You just don't expect to see a lorry of that size suddenly look as if it's about to come over your garden wall."
