Boy, 17, charged with Mitcham stabbings

A 17-year-old has been charged after a former trainee Royal Marine and his father were stabbed in south London.

Matthew Stevenson-Webber, 24, was stabbed in the back in Mitcham on Tuesday night.

His father Craig Joseph-Webber, 45, was stabbed in the head and is in a critical but stable condition.

The youth, from Birmingham, is to appear in court on Thursday charged with causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.

A third man, aged 30, was stabbed in the shoulder and is also stable in hospital.

Four other teenagers questioned over the attack have been bailed.

Mr Stevenson-Webber joined the marines in 2007, but he left due to a training injury.
