Man seriously ill after Salford shooting

A man is seriously ill in hospital after he was shot in the thigh in Salford.

The 23-year-old was shot on George Street South in the Broughton Park area of the city at 2120 BST.

Greater Manchester Police said he was taken to hospital where his condition is said to be serious but stable.

Two men aged 32 and 36 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are due to be questioned by detectives.

Det Sgt Joe Clark, of Salford CID, said: "I understand this incident will cause a lot of concern in the community, but please let me reassure you that this was an isolated incident and we are working hard to find out exactly what happened and why."
