The number of unauthorised traveller encampments in Northamptonshire fell by 72% between 2004/2005 and 2009/2010, new figures show.
The report to Northamptonshire County Council's Traveller Consortium Board says that in 2004/2005 there were 253 illegal camps.
Every year since 2004 has seen a drop in the number of recorded illegal camps.
There were only 69 unauthorised camps in 2009/2010.
The number of incidents recorded by police in connection with the camps has fallen from 1,002 in 2004/2005 to 134 in 2009/2010.
The figures are provided in a report by Sgt Mark McDonnell which goes before the council board on Thursday.
