Woman's body found in burnt-out car in North Yorkshire

A woman's body has been found in a burnt-out car in North Yorkshire, police have said.

Firefighters made the discovery after tackling the fire in a lay-by on the B1363 a mile outside Oswaldkirk, near Easingwold early on Wednesday.

The Renault Megane convertible had its roof up at the time of the fire and had been burning for some time.

Police said the body was believed to be that of the car's 45-year-old owner, who is from East Yorkshire.

She is described as being white, 5ft 3in, with a very slim build and mid-length blonde hair.

When she was last seen she was wearing a black top, black tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
