An 83-year-old woman from Birmingham was badly hurt when she was run over by a mobility scooter and dragged along a road behind it.
She was trying to cross Kingstanding Road in Kingstanding when she was struck by the scooter from behind.
The driver failed to stop and left her with a broken wrist and ankle and multiple cuts and bruises.
Police have urged the driver to come forward and asked for witnesses to the incident on 22 May to contact them.
Det Con Alexis Wood, of West Midlands Police, said: "This was a shocking incident made worse by the fact that the driver did not stop to help.
"I would ask the driver of the mobility scooter to do the decent thing and come forward."
The woman, who is still recovering from her injuries, was crossing the road near Kingstanding pub at about 1300 BST.
Police said there would have been people about as it happened on a busy stretch of road.
Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
