Warning issued over people jumping into the River Test

People are being warned not to put their lives at risk by jumping into the River Test during the warm weather.

Police said revellers were seen going into the water at the War Memorial Park, Riverside Gardens and diving off the bridge at Salmon Leap in Romsey.

A spokeswoman said: "It is potentially dangerous as it is hard to tell how deep the water is, what is below or how fast the tide is flowing.

"We want young people and their parents to be aware of the potential dangers."
