Motorcyclist in fatal Dorset road crash named


A motorcyclist who died in a head-on collision with a car on a rural road in Dorset has been named.

Neil Dominic Carter, a 26-year-old, from Dorchester, who worked as a packer, died in the crash on Friday shortly after midday.

The accident happened on the A357, about a mile outside Shillingstone.

The road was shut for several hours while police investigated the cause of the crash. An inquest was opened and adjourned at Blandford yesterday.

A woman, aged 30, who was driving a Rover car was taken to the Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester suffering from severe shock, police said.

Mr Carter was travelling northbound and the car southbound.
