A prisoner is on the run after walking out of a jail in Suffolk by using another inmate's name, police said.

James Whitlock, 25, left Edmunds Hill in Stradishall on Monday morning after applying for a licence for temporary release using the man's name.

Whitlock, who was serving a sentence for theft, is still on the run. An investigation is under way at the jail, the Prison Service said.

He has connections in Essex and Berkshire.

In particular, these are Walton-on-the-Naze, Great Dunmow, Frinton on Sea, Kirby Cross and Chingford in Essex and Maidenhead in Berkshire.

Whitlock is described as white and of slight build, with brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue and white short-sleeved top and blue jeans.
