Man fatally hurt in A20 crash is named by police

A man who suffered fatal injuries when two heavy goods vehicles collided and caught fire in Kent has been identified by police.

Joaquin Branco, aged 54, from Portugal, died at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after the crash on the A20 near Samphire Hoe at 1535 BST on Thursday.

Kent Police said a second man who was injured remained in hospital in a serious condition.

Both of the lorries were registered outside the UK.

Six fire engines, a water unit and a foam unit, along with 60 firefighters and specialist vehicles, dealt with the incident.

Kent police have renewed their appealed for information about the accident.
