A planning appeal into plans for a five-storey car park at a Cheltenham General Hospital has resumed.

The controversial scheme was rejected by councillors following concerns it would overshadow the nearby lido.

But hospital bosses appealed against the ruling, saying there was a need for more parking space.

The inquiry started in March, but was adjourned due to the release of new planning policies governing the protection of heritage assets.

The appeal is expected to last three days.
