Telford motorist honoured for saving man's life

A motorist who "saved the life" of a man he saw being attacked in Shropshire has been given a police award.

Martyn Plumb was driving in Stirchley Road, in Telford, last April when he saw a man being attacked. He called police and gave the victim first aid.

He also tried to follow the attacker, but they got away. The victim was left seriously injured and needed surgery.

Mr Plumb was given a Royal Humane Society Parchment Award for his actions by West Mercia Police.

His citation said he saved the life of the man being attacked and greatly helped officers in finding the attacker.

Officers and staff from the force's Telford and Wrekin Division have also been honoured for their work.
