Lost Duke of Edinburgh Awards bid girls found safe

Six teenage girls who got into difficulty while undertaking a Duke of Edinburgh's Award in the Highlands were found safe and well over the weekend.

They were reported missing north of the 2,428ft (740m) Beinn Uidhe in Assynt at about 2030 BST on Friday.

A search by members of Dundonnell and Assynt mountain rescue teams and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association found the six by 0345 BST on Saturday.

They were found in a remote area of Assynt and taken by boat to Kylesku.
