A section of a market town in County Durham is to close to allow the last stages of a regeneration programme to be completed.
The revamp in Bishop Auckland town centre is being funded by Durham County Council.
It aims to provide a larger, modern and more open space for shoppers, outdoor markets and events.
Part of the Market Place outside Town Hall will be closed from Monday so a temporary road surface can be replaced.
The temporary tarmac in this section of the road is due to be removed and replaced with a permanent granite finish.
Taxis will have to use a diversion while the road is closed but the rank will remain open.
While the works are completed temporary traffic lights will also be in place.
Work is expected to be completed by 9 July.
