Soldiers recently returned from Afghanistan have marched through Nottingham in a freedom parade.

A 21-gun royal salute took place at Nottingham Castle at 1100 BST to honour the 1st Royal Horse Artillery Regiment and the South Notts Hussars.

Nottinghamshire's Lord Lieutenant Sir Andrew Buchanan also presented operational medals to six soldiers.

The Band of the Royal Engineers and the Nottinghamshire Army Cadet Force also took part in the parade.
