Police have released an e-fit image of a man who sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman in Hampshire.

The attack happened after the victim was followed by the man during the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was walking close to the Festing pub near Albert Road in the Southsea area of Portsmouth at around 0240 BST when she was targeted.

The attacker is described as being Indian or Pakistani, in his mid to late 20s, slim with curly dark hair.

He was also wearing a black or brown PVC waist length jacket and spoke English with a soft accent.

Det Con Jo Morris, from Portsmouth CID, said: "This is a very unusual but serious attack.

"The victim was specifically targeted and followed into a secluded area."

Police say the attack happened in a residential area and believe residents nearby may have heard the victim's screams.

Ms Morris said there was a burger van nearby and believed there would have been witnesses in the are at the time of the incident.

She added: "Before she entered the Mews, a black man asked the victim if she was all right and offered to call her a taxi.

"He is described as having a Samsung mobile phone.

"I am keen to trace this male who may have seen her attacker."
