Derry men face Dublin cash raid charges

Two Londonderry men have been charged over the robbery of a cash delivery guard in Dublin on Wednesday.

In court were Charles Anthony Deery, 41 a Derry man with an address at Aughrim Street, Dublin, and Dermot McFadden, 38, of Kildrum Gardens, Creggan.

Both were charged with the possession of a firearm with intent to commit a robbery

Mr Deery is also accused of membership of an illegal organisation, styling itself the Irish Republican Army.

Neither man said anything when formally charged at Dublin's Special Criminal Court. The court remanded both in custody until 24 June.

The robbery happened at Prussia Street in north Dublin.

The two men were arrested after a cash box was stolen from a security guard making a delivery. The box was later recovered.
