Driver charged over road worker death in Saffron Walden


A motorist has been charged after a workman was killed as he repaired a street sign in Essex.

Gerald Thorn, 53, from Saffron Walden, died while working in the town on 11 September 2009.

His 36-year-old colleague suffered a fractured spine in the crash, in which two cars collided.

A 20-year-old man from Saffron Walden is due to appear at Harlow Magistrates' Court on 16 June charged with causing death by careless driving.
