The investigation into an alleged sexual assault by a model who appeared in a Bushmills Whiskey ad campaign is at an early stage, a court has heard.

Major Dodge, 32, who has an address in Manhattan, is alleged to have touched the woman in a sexual manner in Belfast last month.

A lawyer for the PPS said he had spoken to the arresting officer on Wednesday.

"He understands that everything is sitting there, it just has not been submitted (to the PPS) yet," he said.

Mr Dodge was not in court on Wednesday and was remanded for four weeks on continuing bail.

The actor and model, who had minor roles in US shows Sex and the City and Law and Order, is understood to have been staying at a Belfast hotel with other people involved in the "Bushmills Brothers" advertising campaign at the time of the alleged offence.
