Woman held after boy found in Hanham pond dies


A two-year-old boy has died after being discovered in a garden pond in South Gloucestershire.

Daniel Marshall Rees-Smith was taken to Bristol Children's Hospital after being found at a property in Mount Hill Road, Hanham, last Friday, but was later pronounced dead.

A woman in her 40s has been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

Avon and Somerset police said inquiries were continuing.

A Great Western Ambulance Service spokesman said a crew arrived at the scene within seven minutes.

An online tribute set up on Facebook has received more than 600 followers.

One reads: "You're sorely missed by all your family and friends little man. Everyone loves you so, so, so much."
