Roof collapses in Chilbolton house fire
Fire has severely damaged a house in a Hampshire village.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue said 36 firefighters were called to the property in Station Road, Chilbolton, near Stockbridge, just before 0900 BST.
Crews from seven stations took 90 minutes to extinguish the fire but the roof collapsed and top floor of the house was also destroyed.
The rest of the property was damaged by smoke and water. An investigation is underway to find out the cause.
Station manager Lee Fisher said: "Despite being hampered by limited water supplies crews worked tremendously hard to tackle the rapidly developing serious house fire.
"Fire fighting was conducted externally due to the collapse of the roof and with the knowledge that no-one was in the building."
