A 27-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murder after the body of a man was found in a brook in Preston.

David Splatt, 35, was found floating in the water near the Grange estate in Ribbleton, on 20 December 2009.

Keith Peel, of Burnslack Road, Preston, originally denied murder but changed his plea during a hearing at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.

Two other men accused of murder are due to go on trial on Monday. Peel will be sentenced at a later date.

Mr Splatt's body was found in the water by a man walking his dog.

A post-mortem examination revealed the father-of-three died from severe head injuries.
