The former Auditor General for Wales, Jeremy Colman, has pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of making and possessing indecent images of children.
Mr Colman, 61, of Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan, was arrested in February on indecent images charges.
At the hearing in Cardiff Crown Court, Mr Colman also denies failing to provide a key to protected information.
The case was adjourned until 21 June. Mr Colman remains on bail.
Mr Colman stepped down from his job in February while police investigated allegations relating to his office computer.
