Free 'MOT health checks' for Norfolk and Suffolk men

  • Published

Men are being offered free health checks at a mobile station touring parts of Norfolk and north Suffolk.

The checks by NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney begin on Monday and coincide with Men's Health Week.

Men of any age group who drop in at the "MOT" mobile will have their blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and lung function checked.

The tour begins in Lowestoft and will also visit Great Yarmouth and Oulton Broad.

Tracey Read, health promotion practitioner, said: "It's not always easy to get to a doctor and men do not access GPs as much as women.

"We encourage any man in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area to come along for a free, confidential and fast MOT or to discuss any health concerns they may have."

The mobile station will be at Lowestoft Library on Monday afternoon, Great Yarmouth Borough Council on Tuesday morning and then at the Cobholm and Lichfield Centre in Pasteur Road in the town in the afternoon.

On Wednesday it will call at Oulton Broad Library during the morning and at the Bridge View Day Centre in Lowestoft in the afternoon.

Its final stop will be at Boots in Market Gates, Great Yarmouth on Thursday morning.
