The public has been urged to send in postal votes for the first public election to Dumfries and Galloway health board.
The region is piloting the project in Scotland, along with Fife, at a cost of a little under £3m.
The Scottish government hopes the scheme will make health boards more accountable to their local communities.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway spokesman John Glover asked people to send votes in before 1600 BST on Thursday.
