An anonymous businessman is offering a reward of £5,000 for information about the murder of 22-year-old Ffion Wyn Roberts.

Her body was discovered in Porthmadog, Gwynedd, on April 10 in a drainage canal known locally as Y Cyt.

North Wales Police have also renewed their appeal for information about items found near a sluice gate in the town.

These include Ms Roberts's handbag, tracksuit bottoms and a training shoe.

The reward is being offered through the Police and is for information leading to the arrest, charge and subsequent conviction of whomever is responsible for the death.

The senior investigating officer, Det Supt Peter Chalinor, said since making their latest appeal for information about items found discarded following the murder, a number of calls had been received "and we are following up these lines of inquiries".

"We have also been offered this financial reward from a local businessman which may encourage someone with further information to come forward," he added.

Mr Chalinor added that an investigative team of 44 continued to work on the case.

"North Wales Police remain committed to bring the person or persons responsible for Ffion's death to justice," he said.

"We have been extremely encouraged by the response from local people and the offer of a financial reward demonstrates how supportive the community of Porthmadog and Tremadog are," he added.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01745 538499.
