Grants of £60m are being given to 533 projects to help the Scottish countryside.

A poultry farm near Peebles, a waste business near Greenock and a tourist accommodation at Ballantrae in Ayrshire will benefit.

The government predicts that the Rural Priorities scheme will create more than 600 jobs and support a further 500.

More than 4,000 projects across Scotland have already received grants through the scheme.

Rural Secretary Richard Lochhead said: "These are difficult economic times and the creation of 630 jobs across the country will be a welcome boost."
