M40 junction plans go on show in Oxfordshire

Transport bosses are putting forward plans to reduce congestion on a busy road junction near Bicester in Oxfordshire.

The Highways Agency is holding a two-day public exhibition outlining proposals for the M40 junction 9, where the motorway meets the A34 trunk road.

The scheme includes building a third lane on the busiest parts of the interchange.

The work, which will be completed in phases, is expected to start in July.

Highways Agency project manager Surrinder Bhangu said: "The majority of drivers using the interchange are travelling from the southbound M40 to the southbound A34.

"The work we are doing aims to increase capacity on this busiest section to prevent queues building and keep the junction roundabout clear for everyone.

"These exhibitions are an excellent opportunity for people to come and find out about what we are trying to do, and have the chance to put their questions directly to the project team."

The two-day exhibition is being held at Weston-on-the-Green Village Hall on Wednesday afternoon and at the Wyevale Garden Centre in Bicester on Saturday morning.
