Pipe bomb attack on family's Ardgrange home

A family has escaped injury in a pipe bomb attack in Derry.

The device exploded outside a house in the Ardgrange area of the city shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

No-one was injured. However the front door of the house was damaged in the attack.

Residents were forced to leave their homes but have since returned. SDLP councillor Mark H Durkan said the attack was "completely unacceptable".

"Everyone has suffered as a result," he said.

"It is fortunate that no-one has been injured. A lot of young people and children have been disrupted."

Keith McGrellis, Alliance Party, said it was a "sickening attack".

"A family were in the house at the time of the attack and thankfully they were uninjured. The callous disregard shown by those involved in this attack is shocking," he said.
