Boy killed in car crash named by Derbyshire police

A seven-year-old Derbyshire boy who died after a car crash has been named as Luke Elson-Handley from Ashbourne.

His 37-year-old mother was seriously injured in the crash in Turnditch on 3 June and is being treated in the Royal Derby Hospital.

They were travelling in a Citroen C2 which collided with a Mitsubishi on Intakes Lane.

The boy had to be cut free from the car and was airlifted to hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
