Man stabbed at wedding reception in County Durham


A man has been arrested after a stabbing at a wedding reception in County Durham.

Police believe the victim became involved in an altercation with another man at the Elm Road Working Men's Club in Shildon on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old, from Edinburgh, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, suffering from a wound, described as non-life-threatening.

A 20-year-old Bishop Auckland man is being held on suspicion of assault.

There were a number of people attending the function at about 2300 BST and anyone with any information has been asked to contact Durham Police.

Three other men were arrested following a later and separate altercation at the club on the same night.
